Cycling the Yumeshima Kaido from Mihara
This cycling course starts from JR Mihara Station, easily accessible by Shinkansen, and takes you along the Yumeshima Kaido?a route with no traffic lights, where you can fully enjoy the natural beauty of the Seto Inland Sea.
The course covers five islands (Innoshima, Iwagi, Ikina, Sashima, and Yuge), three bridges, and two ferry crossings, offering a condensed experience of everything that makes Setouchi travel so special. Despite its variety, the total distance is relatively short, making it enjoyable even for beginners.
For a more relaxed trip, we recommend an overnight stay on the Yumeshima Kaido (Kamijima, Ehime Prefecture)♪

*Hello Cycling App ? Tateishi Port Station (same-day rentals available via the app)
This is the gateway to the Yumeshima Kaido, where you can enjoy the untouched, picturesque scenery of the Seto Inland Sea?just as you might have imagined it. Instead of taking the same road back, it’s more fun to make a loop, so head west toward the Iwagi Bridge.
Opened in 2022, the Iwagi Bridge rises in the middle to let ships pass beneath, giving you the sensation of climbing a wall?and the reward is a breathtaking view.
On Ikina Island, you can also enjoy unique activities such as yoga and smoked food-making experiences (see the link at the end for details).

② Iwagi island
Iwagi Island was connected to the other islands by bridge in 2022. Until then, it was only accessible by ferry-giving it the authentic charm of a true Seto Inland Sea island. Here you’ll find restaurants serving delicious fresh seafood, letting you savor Setouchi with both your taste buds and your eyes.
The island’s most famous attraction is Mt. Sekizen’s “3,000 Cherry Trees,” one of Ehime’s top cherry blossom spots. It’s stunning in spring, of course, but also recommended for cycling climbs and panoramic views throughout the year.
If time allows, a full ride around the island is highly recommended.

③④ From Iwagi to Sashima via Ikina
Cross the Iwagi Bridge back to Ikina Island and continue eastward to reach Sashima, the smallest of Kamijima Town’s Yumeshima Kaido islands.
Though it’s easy to simply pass through?since the island is so small you can cross it in no time?Sashima is full of hidden gems if you take a moment to stop.
Here you’ll find Saifuku-ji Temple, famous for its Great Nio guardians with thick eyebrows, opportunities for sea kayaking, a cozy book cafe where time seems to stand still, and a popular guesthouse perfect for enjoying slow island life. Even its cycling loop that simply turns back on itself leaves a lasting impression.
⑤ Yuge island
Crossing the Yuge Bridge from Sashima brings you to the last stop on this Yumeshima Kaido course?Yuge Island, the largest island in Kamijima Town and full of attractions.
Simply cycling through offers plenty of beautiful scenery and shrines, but highlights include the historic streets of Kami-Yuge and the popular Shirasuna Matsubara Beach with its white sand and pine grove. The island also offers a wide range of dining and accommodation options.
A full loop around the island is possible and highly recommended for its scenery, though be prepared for some ups and downs along the outer route. If you have the time, consider staying overnight and enjoying the Yumeshima Kaido at a slower pace.
After exploring Yuge Island, return via Sashima and Ikina back to Tateishi Port, where you can board the Habu Shosen ferry to Mihara?completing your journey.
