A 5-minute walk from JR Mihara Station leads to Mihara Port, where a high-speed ferry takes you straight to Ikuchijima, in the heart of the Shimanami Kaido.

From Setoda Port, stroll through Shiomachi Shopping Street and around Kosanji Temple to enjoy nostalgic townscapes, cafes, and art spots.
[ Cycling Adventure ]
Rent a bike and explore the 22 km island loop, passing by lemon groves, scenic beaches, and local treats like the famous ice cream shop. For those with extra time, cross the iconic Tatara Bridge into Omishima and capture a photo at the “Cyclist’s Sanctuary” monument.

Starting from Mihara Port
The starting point of this model course is Mihara Port Ferry Terminal, a five-minute walk from JR Mihara Station, where the Shinkansen also stops. From here, you will board the Yuba Shipping ferry bound for Setoda.

① Shiomachi Shopping Street Area
If you’re sightseeing on foot, this is the perfect area to explore. At Shiomachi Shopping Street, you can enjoy both food and shopping?from stylish cafes and retro shops to delicious croquettes. Don’t miss K?j?-ji Temple with its towering three-story pagoda, or K?san-ji Temple, famous for its dazzling white marble garden called ‘Hill of Hope.’
You can also visit the Hirayama Ikuo Museum of Art, which showcases works by the island’s renowned painter. With so many highlights packed into this area, you’ll find that no amount of time is enough to see it all
② Cycling Around Ikuchijimaisland
Ride around Ikuchijima on a 23 km cycling course?about two hours at a leisurely pace, or three hours with stops.
Bikes can be rented via the ‘Hello Cycling’ app at Setoda Station or at shops near the port.
[ Route ]
A clockwise route is recommended, with the sea on your left. Stop by the famous ice cream shop Dolce and enjoy the 17 outdoor artworks of the ‘Island-wide Museum,’ set against the stunning scenery of the Seto Inland Sea.
The quieter southern coast offers rustic landscapes and a beautiful shoreline. Be sure to bring drinks in advance on hot days.
